Below are brief descriptions of the activities and services we regularly offer. There are far too many to list each one, but this should give you an idea of the major events that run throughout a month for us.
Playgroups are arranged weekly for moms and kids to come together for a laid back, free-play gathering. Average playgroups include each child bringing toy(s) to share and play while the moms visit and talk amongst one another. Playgroup times are also utilized to bring us together for holiday parties, crafts, service projects, exclusive events and presentations, and business meetings. The location can vary based on the host(s) preference. If you are interested in attending a trial playgroup, please contact a board member here for times and location.
Our chapter tries to meet once a month for book club at a previously designated location, often a moms home. Similar to MNO, it's another "mommy time" activity to socialize, relax, and carry on a great guided conversation with your fellow members over the latest title.
This committee was created to provide direct support to our own chapter members. Fellow members volunteer to provide a meal for another member in need of an extra hand. The birth of a new child is often the reason for our efforts here. However, an illness, surgery, family emergency, or any other time of need that would merit extra help. An average of six meals are planned across a two week period using an online scheduling tool. This is another great advantage of becoming a member! Join us today! We would love to have you!
Service projects are the deeds to our community carried out by our members. This is our way to get involved and make a tangible difference around us. One of our biggest projects is providing full supply stocked backpacks to local grade school children in need. Profits from our semi-annual bake sale and raffle fund this project, along with donations from the community and our club. We stuff the bags ourselves and hand deliver them to the spronsored local schools, such as Piney Orchard Elementary School, Four Seasons Elementary School, and Odenton Elementary School. An equally efforted project includes our Holiday Sharing program to provide a meal and gifts to families in need within our community. There are approximately 2-4 projects per year, but this is all decided at our annual business meeting. In addition to the quantity of service projects, the nature of each is voted on by our members annually. Approximately 75% of our chapter's income is returned to our community in the form of these projects.
Our monthly activities vary greatly as they are set up in advance by the board and volunteer hosts. They can include free, low-cost, or discounted events/admissions and even exclusives just for our chapter! A short list of activities we've done include:
Bounce House jumps
Coffee & Cartoons
Gymnastics at popular local venues
Kids Cooking Class
Lunch Dates at local kid-friendly restaurants
Popsicles at the Playground
Mall Walks and Shops
Run & Playtime at popular local venues
